How it is cut
This outer layer fastens over a baby carrier or waist stool using shoulder buckles and waist straps. We cut the shell from black polyester pongee to shed rain and wind, then line the inside with coral fleece. It also lays flat across a stroller seat as a warm bunting.
Detachable hood panel
The hood fastens on with snaps and comes off completely when not needed. You can turn it around depending on whether the carry faces inward or forward, or draw the edge close around the head with the cord.
Outer shell and lining
We use black polyester pongee for the outer face to shed water and cut the wind. Inside, we line the whole pocket with coral fleece that holds loft through cold walks. Machine wash on cold and line dry.
Bottom foot zips
Two separate zips run along the lower hem. Leave them closed to make a solid pocket for small feet, or draw them open so muddy shoes can hang out through the base without rubbing the fleece lining.
Front hand pocket
A deep kangaroo pocket sits across the front panel so your own hands can rest out of the wind while carrying. It packs into its own cloth storage bag when you unclip the buckles and roll it down.
