How it is cut
We cut this cover from a black hexagonal honeycomb mesh that stays open to the air while holding off outdoor insects. Flexible internal support strips lift the canopy up off the seat so it keeps its shape. An all-around elastic hem pulls down over the frame, and a center zip lets you reach inside without lifting the whole net.
Arched support strips
Flexible internal ribs run through the top seams to hold the mesh away from the child. The canopy keeps its dome shape across the seat without sagging down toward the center.
Two-way center zip
A long front zip runs down the middle of the canopy. You can open it from either end to reach in, leaving the elastic hem settled around the outer rim of the seat.
Elastic skirt hem
The bottom edge is gathered with a continuous elastic band that slips over the perimeter of infant car seats and Doona frames. It pulls tight around the lower shell to hold the mesh in place.
Wash and pack down
The polyester mesh folds flat when you press the support strips together, tucking into its own small travel bag. You can wash the piece by hand or run it on a gentle machine cycle and line dry.
