How it is cut
We cut this piece from dark gray pongee lined in short plush, both certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. It pulls over the outer rim of an infant car seat or stroller shell with an elastic skirt, leaving the back entirely open so nothing sits under the harness straps. The front unzips to let a child in and out without pulling the whole piece off.
Shower cap hem
A continuous ring of elastic runs through the outer edge. You pull it over the seat shell from the top down, where it gathers tight around the plastic rim rather than threading behind the back.
Front zipper track
The front panel splits down the center with a long zip. You can lay the cover open while strapping a child in, then draw the runner up to close the opening.
Fold over flap
A lined top flap folds back over the opening or pulls forward over the upper chest when the air turns cold. It buttons back when you want the face open to view.
Care and stowage
The whole shell compresses down small enough to tuck inside a tote or diaper bag. When it picks up dirt from the road, wash it cold on a gentle cycle and hang it flat to dry.
