How it is cut
We sew this cold weather cover with a continuous elastic skirt that pulls over the rim of an infant car seat like a shower cap. The back remains open so nothing sits under the harness. The outer shell is gray pongee that sheds wind and wet weather, lined inside with short plush certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.
Elastic perimeter
A gathered elastic edge runs all the way around the rim. You stretch it over the car seat shell from top to bottom, and it pulls snug beneath the outer lip without disturbing the harness.
Front zip opening
A long center zip runs down the middle panel. It lets you lay the front open flat to lift a baby in and out without pulling the whole cover off the frame.
Fold back flap
We added a pull-over flap across the front opening. It buttons back when you want the face clear, or folds down flat over the opening when the wind picks up outside.
Pongee and plush
The outer shell is dense gray pongee stitched to shed wind and snow. Inside, the short plush lining holds loft, and the whole cover packs flat into a tote for cold washing.
